Thank you for choosing to be a part of MSCR Softball's Centennial Season!

This year marks MSCR's 100th year of recreation. Softball was the first organized sport MSCR offered to the Madison Community so thank you for being apart of history!

Your league is a 6 team league. Your team will play a double round robin schedule.
Questions: Please contact us at asld@madison.k12.wi.us or 204-3024

Non-Discrimination:

MSCR is the public recreation department and welcomes players of all races, genders and abilities.  Derogatory comments toward a player or umpire based on race, gender expression or disabilities will not be tolerated and are grounds for removal from the program.

Ball Distribution:

Softballs & score cards will be handed out by the umpire prior to the start of each game of the night

Game Times:

Most leagues have a 6:30, 7:30 or 8:30 game start time. There is also a 55 minute time limit per game.  No new inning will start after the 55 minute limit unless the score is tied.  We ask that once your game is finished that you gather your belongings and go visit a local establishment, many of whom have generously sponsored MSCR softball teams!

Home Run Rule

Each team is limited to 1 over the fence home run per inning.  Additional hits over the fence (in fair territory) beyond the 1 per inning will be counted as an out.

Run Rule (AKA Mercy Rule)

Before the time limit expires, a game will be over after 5 innings (4 and 1/2 innings if the home team leads), if either team leads by 15 runs.  Note: if the visiting team leads by 15 runs after 5 and 1/2 innings, or 6 and 1/2 innings, the home team will be allowed to begin its' at bat.

After the time limit expires, the game is over immediately if either team is leading by 15 runs; the half inning is not completed.

League Champions:

A league champion will be determined based on record at the end of the season. Please see the rules for all aspect of declaring a league champion such as ties, etc.

League Championship – (Tie Breaker Procedures):

Here is how MSCR will determine what team is the League Champion, or what teams will play in a Championship game:

If one team wins both rounds, they are the league champion.

If 2 different teams win each round, there will be a one game championship game to declare the league champion.

If two teams tie for first place in a round, the head-to-head winner will be the round champion.

If three teams tie for first place and one team has beaten the other two teams head to head then that team will be declared the round champion.

If three teams tie for first place and one team has lost to both of the other two first place teams head to head, then that team will be eliminated from the playoff game.  The other two remaining teams would then play for the round in a one game playoff.

If three or more teams tie for first place and one team has won a round, the remaining two teams will play a playoff to play the other round winner for the championship.

If three or more teams tie for first place and no team has lost to all of the other teams in first place, then the team(s) with the MOST TOTAL RUNS ALLOWED throughout that round will be eliminated from the round playoff game.  The two remaining teams with the FEWEST TOTAL RUNS ALLOWED would then play for the round championship in a one game playoff.

League Administration:

MSCR reminds you that the games are meant to provide a fun, recreational activity - good sportsmanship and respect toward fellow players and game officials is a program expectation.  Players or fans unable to uphold these standards risk future participation in the program. MSCR thanks you in advance for your cooperation!
