Thank you for choosing to be a part of MSCR Softball's Centennial Season!
This year marks MSCR's 100th year of recreation. Softball was the first organized sport MSCR offered to the Madison Community so thank you for being apart of history!
Your league is a 8 team league. Round 1 will be a 7 week round robin schedule. After Round 1, teams will be divided into one of two divisions, "A" or "B". Each division will have 4 teams. Round 2 will be a three week round robin schedule played within each division. The winners of each division in Round 2 will be the league champions.
Non-Discrimination:
MSCR is the public recreation department and welcomes players of all races, genders and abilities. Derogatory comments toward a player or umpire based on race, gender expression or disabilities will not be tolerated and are grounds for removal from the program.
Ball Distribution:
Softballs & score cards will be handed out by the umpire prior to the start of each game of the night.
Game Times:
Game times are 6:30 and 7:30pm. There is also a 55 minute time limit per game. No new inning will start after the 55 minute limit unless the score is tied. We ask that once your game is finished that you gather your belongings and go visit a local establishment, many of whom have generously sponsored MSCR softball teams!

Home Run Rule
Each team is limited to 1 over the fence home run per inning. Additional hits over the fence (in fair territory) beyond the 1 per inning will be counted as an out.
Run Rule (AKA Mercy Rule)
Before the time limit expires, a game will be over after 5 innings (4 and 1/2 innings if the home team leads), if either team leads by 15 runs. Note: if the visiting team leads by 15 runs after 5 and 1/2 innings, or 6 and 1/2 innings, the home team will be allowed to begin its' at bat.
After the time limit expires, the game is over immediately if either team is leading by 15 runs; the half inning is not completed.
All Gender Reminders:
Min/Max: Teams must have a minimum of 4 female identifying players in the field and batting order. In no circumstance can a male identifying player take the place of a female identifying player (ie, there are 11 players 6 men & 5 women - all 5 women must play in the field and bat). There can never be more than +2 men (ex. a team of 12 can have 7 men & 5 women or 6 & 6 but not 8 men and 4 women).
Batting Order: No more than 2 men may bat back to back (including the bottom/top of the order).
Courtesy Runners: Are allowed; however, the courtesy runner is the last out of the requesting runner's gender (men can only run for other men).
Intentional Walks: When walked, all batters regardless of gender will go to 1st base.

MSCR reminds you that the games are meant to provide a fun, recreational activity - good sportsmanship and respect toward fellow players and game officials is a program expectation.
