Spring Basketball

21 - Sugar - Tues
select

Thank you for choosing to play MSCR Spring Basketball!

Your league is a 4 team league.  You will play an unbalanced schedule where you will play two of the teams twice and one other team only once.  The winner of the league will be the team with the best overall record.
Questions: Please contact us at asld@madison.k12.wi.us or 204-3024

Non-Discrimination:

MSCR is the public recreation department and welcomes players of all races, genders and abilities.  Derogatory comments toward a player or umpire based on race, gender expression or disabilities will not be tolerated and are grounds for removal from the program.

High School or National Federation rules are the basic playing rules of the MSCR basketball league.

League Administration - here are a few highlights regarding the administration of MSCR basketball leagues:

  • Teams are reminded that they must have both light and dark colored jerseys available – reversible is OK! The jerseys or shirts must have permanently adhered numbers (taped on numbers are not allowed).
    • Shirts / Jersey’s do not need to be fancy but a team must be dressed in the same or similar colored shirts/jerseys. A set of white t-shirts and a set of black t-shirts with numbers written in sharpie, works just as well as a set of professionally printed reversible jerseys.
  • There is no "grace period" in MSCR basketball . . . there must be at least four players dressed and ready to play at the scheduled game time or a forfeit will be declared. Please allow yourself enough time to arrive safely and find a parking spot.
    • The MSCR program is a “rostered” team program. If a team has players participating without signing up, the game will be a forfeit and the team may be dropped from the program. Players can be added to teams if needed by contacting MSCR at 204-3024 or having the player sign a player card and waiver on site.
  • MSCR reminds you that the games are meant to provide a fun, recreational activity - good sportsmanship and respect toward fellow players and game officials is a program expectation.  Players or fans unable to uphold these standards risk future participation in the program. MSCR thanks you in advance for your cooperation!

Personal Fouls:  The following acts will constitute a foul when committed against a ball handler/dribbler. A player becomes a ball handler when he/she receives the ball.  This includes a player in a post position.

1.)  Placing two hands on the player.

2.)  Placing an extended arm bar on the player.

3.)  Placing and keeping a hand on the player.

4.)  Contacting the player more than once with the same or alternating hands.

Reminder:  Free Throws:  During a free throw, players in marked lane spaces will be able to move into the lane, when the free throw shooter releases the ball.
